Student Classes
Ballet

At GSSDANCE, we are proudly affiliated with the Royal Academy of Dance (London) and the American Academy of Ballet (USA), offering internationally accredited examinations and performance awards for our students.
We place strong emphasis on technical training, developing dancers from the age of 3 through to pre-professional levels. Ballet is the foundation of all great dance training, equipping students with the discipline, strength, and artistry needed to excel across multiple dance styles. For this reason, we highly recommend that every student takes a ballet class as part of their training.
Class Structure:
- Pre-School Programme (Ages 3–7): One 30-minute class per week
- Junior Ballerinas (Ages 7–12): One 45-minute class per week
- Intermediate Dancers (Ages 12–15): Two 45-minute classes per week
- Vocational Students: Two 1-hour classes per week, plus a dedicated open pointe work class (strongly recommended) to support the pointe syllabus and strengthen technique
This structured progression ensures that each dancer develops at the right pace, building both the technical skills and expressive artistry needed for success in ballet and beyond.
Modern
We offer internationally accredited Modern dance training and examinations through the Association of International Dance Teachers (AIDT), available for students from age 3 through to pre-professional levels. Modern is the perfect complement to the classical ballet syllabus, giving dancers the freedom to explore expression and creativity while maintaining the discipline of correct placement and technique for safe, powerful movement.
Modern incorporates a blend of styles and techniques, including Jazz, Contemporary, Horton, Graham & Release techniques – equipping dancers with versatility, strength, and fluidity. This training develops not only technical precision but also artistry, allowing each dancer to find their unique voice in movement.

Students begin with one class per week but may be required to attend two classes per week at Major level.

Lyrical & African Contemporary

We offer a vibrant and expressive open-class environment where students are encouraged to explore movement beyond traditional syllabi. These classes provide opportunities for creative growth, performance, and artistic exploration, with students often showcasing their work in productions, competitions, and community events throughout the year.
Lyrical and African Contemporary dance fuse strong technical foundations with emotional storytelling and cultural rhythm. Students develop an awareness of musicality, gravity, release, improvisation, and expressive interpretation, while also exploring the grounded, rhythmic qualities of African dance and the emotive fluidity of lyrical.
Due to the expressive and interpretive nature of these styles, classes are offered from ages 11 years & over, and are especially beneficial to students with a background in Ballet and/or Modern.
Class Structure:
Each weekly class (45–60 minutes) includes a warm-up, floor work, traveling sequences, improvisation, and choreography.
Acrobatics & Body Conditioning
Our Acrobatics classes for dancers aged 8 years & over combine elements of balance, agility, strength, and coordination to help dancers build confidence while mastering exciting tricks and skills. With a strong focus on body conditioning, students learn to develop strength and control before working on flexibility, ensuring safe and effective progression through acrobatic movements.
Acro training is an excellent complement to all other dance genres, adding versatility and enhancing performance quality by blending athleticism with artistry. Students not only gain physical skills but also improve their spatial awareness, resilience, and creative expression.
We are affiliated with the Theatre Dance Association (TDA), offering Acro examinations for students who wish to pursue formal accreditation.
